Credits and plans

What a page costs by step and language, what each plan includes, and what happens to credits you do not use.

Credits pay for runs. A workspace has one balance, and every chapter anyone in it runs draws on that balance. Before a chapter starts, the upload button names the most it can cost (“up to … cr”). A run does not start unless the balance covers that amount.

What a page costs

On the Standard model, one comic page through all four steps in one language costs 10 credits: 4 to read the text, 2 to translate it, 3 to clean the art and 1 to letter it. A project that stops at an earlier step pays for the steps it runs.

The text is read and the art is cleaned once per page, however many languages you have. Each further language repeats the translation and the lettering only. Add a language to a project later, and the chapters already in it are translated at that same price.

A novel has no art, so it has one price: 10 credits a page for each language on Standard. A page of a novel is about 2,000 characters of source text.

Translation models

You pick the translation model per project. Standard is the base price. Every other model adds to the translation step and to nothing else, so a project that stops at Text only costs the same on any model.

What is free

  • Exports and downloads, as often as you like.
  • Editing a line yourself in the editor.
  • Lettering a page again after you change it.
  • A page with nothing to translate, and a step that fails.

Asking the translation model to draft one line again costs the translation step of one page on the project’s model: 2 credits on Standard for a comic. An animated cover costs 100 credits for 2 seconds and 200 for 4.

Plans

A new account starts with 1,000 free credits, once, with no card. A paid plan adds credits every month.

PlanCreditsSeatsUnused credits
Free1,000, once1Stay until you spend them
Starter7,500 a month3None carry over
Studio60,000 a month10Up to 10,000 carry over
Scale150,000 a month25Up to 30,000 carry over

Studio and Scale also include layered PSD export and priority processing. On a yearly plan you pay once a year and the credits still arrive every month. Prices are on the pricing page, and seats are covered in Team and seats.

Unused credits

All your credits sit in one balance: the free credits, the plan’s monthly credits and any top-ups. Each time a paid plan’s monthly credits arrive, two things happen in this order:

  1. Whatever is in the balance above the plan’s carry-over limit is removed. The limit is zero on Starter, 10,000 on Studio and 30,000 on Scale.
  2. The new month’s credits are added.

So on Starter every unused credit goes at renewal.

The first time you subscribe, nothing is removed: the credits you already had stay, and the plan’s credits are added to them. The limit applies from the first renewal on. On Free there is no renewal, so credits stay until you spend them.

Top-ups

Top up on the Billing screen sells one-off packs of credits, on every plan and on Free. They are added to your balance.

Top-up credits join the same balance and follow the same rule. On Free they do not expire. On a paid plan, any still unused at renewal count toward the carry-over limit, and the part of the balance above it is removed.

Where to see your balance

The foot of the sidebar shows the credits you have left. Billing in the sidebar has the rest:

  • Plan: your plan, its credits a month and its seats. Change plan moves a subscription to another plan. A move up is charged now to the card on file. A move down is not charged and starts on your next billing date.
  • Credits: how many are left and how many you have used.
  • Activity: every grant, top-up, charge and expiry, with its date and amount.
  • Manage in portal, once you have subscribed: opens the payment portal, where your receipts and the card on file are kept.
